Pasta is the foundation upon which great meals are built, which is why we took such care in selecting our pasta. Members of the Balistreri family traveled personally to Italy to taste samples from Italian pasta companies before making a selection. The best dishes they tasted were made with pasta from a family-owned company run by sibling owners. Finding a company that produced an exceptional product and shared the same family-owned values as Sendik’s, the Balistreris knew they had the ideal partner.
The pasta that we have chosen as our own goes through rigorous tests to ensure its quality. Experts value the grain by looking at the wheat field, examining soil types, the grain’s location and its exposure to the sun. They carefully assess grains, choosing only those that are light yellow, indicating a wealth of gluten proteins.
